ARTZILA

Another painter in my peer group, Vincent van Gogh, tried painting a few bridges and this is one of them. Like Monet yesterday, I feel Vincent is floundering a bit with his subject. I see him hard at work on the riverbank with a brush in one hand and a bottle in the other. The day is drawing to a close and although his bridge(s) and river look fine, the painting is blah. What does he do? After a large gulp of wine for inspiration he adds some boats, a train and, of course, a lady in a red hat! Voila! It’s now a painting - off to the café! Learning from Vincent’s mistake, I will start with the wine.
