"On the Rocks with a Twist" by GNAY
The rumours of GNAY’s death by drug overdose remain unsubstantiated but new evidence suggests that he may have died in a kayak accident on a sketching trip gone wrong. Like the great Canadian painter before him, Tom Thompson, who died in a canoe accident, GNAY was a great lover of the outdoors and a fierce defender of the environment. This painting is not only a superb example of GNAY’s early style, but also a symbol of his love of nature (and beer). The Vancouver Art Gallery and The National Gallery in Ottawa are said to be in a bidding war for its purchase.
