"Receding Tide, Departure Bay" by E.J. Hughes
This is a beautiful west coast beach scene by one of my mentors, John Hughes. I love the blueness of the water against the turquoise sky. The beach has rocks, and logs, and seagulls, and more rocks. He must have had lots of patience and time to paint all those rocks. Each one is lovingly rendered and looks just like a rock. Each rock enjoying its own unique shade of gray. My painting only has one rock but it’s a really big rock, and it’s a white rock. No shades of gray for me.
