ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kirk Brant is a member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, born in Toronto, 1969.
Kirk graduated from the graphic design program at Alonguin College, Ottawa, 1993.
His art reflects his heritage as a Mohawk person. Images from powwows and other social events as well as subject matter from the bush appear in much of his work.
"As an avid hunter fishermen I find the bush infinitely inspiring"
Kirk is a self-taught fine artist. Having painted most of his life he began to paint professionally in his late teens. Today Kirk paints from his home in Ottawa South.
