ABOUT THE ARTIST

Alan McKee grew up in New York City, influenced by the 1950s art scene. His mother was an abstract expressionist painter who exhibited at Peggy Guggenheim’s gallery and developed Alan’s fundamental concepts of color and form. With the advent of digital technology, Alan combined his profound color sense with the larger color space of digital technologies to create his unique photographic art form. He uses medium format film and digital photography. His concept of art is best summed up by Joan Miro, who said “A work of art is a gateway to another world.”

Alan has had group and solo exhibits including the CONTACT Photography Festival. Alan’s work is collected in North America. Alan has been reviewed by leading art critics John Grande and Edward Lucie-Smith.
